This dwarf, shade growing species, from Madagascar, is very floriferous. Multiple long, pendulous inflorescences have white or cream colored flowers with a slight lemon fragrance. Beautiful foliage. Aerangis citrata grows at low altitudes in shady conditions along streams and valleys. They prefer shade with temperatures ranging from intermediate to warm. This species enjoys humid conditions year round. Water freely when leaves or flower buds are forming. Watering can be cut back during dormant winter season for about two months each year. A slab is the best foundation for the pendulous inflorescences. A small well drained pot or basket with a well drained media can also be used. Aerangis citrata requires heavy shade and must have good air movement asit is very intolerant of stale conditions. Because the plants are small, the roots should not be allowed to dry out, keep just damp , but not wet. Attention should also be paid for signs of spider mite, red spider.
