Phalaenopsis (fal-ae-NOP-siss)

The genus Phalaenopsis (Phals.) is beloved throughout the Orchid Growing hobby because of its ease of growth, longevity of their blooms, and the many sizes and colors available.

Many Phals will continue to produce buds on the old inflorescence if left on the plant. This is especially true with novelty types such as the reds, yellow, and spotted phalaenopsis. It is possible to have flowers, at the same time, on both new and old inflorescences. Generally speaking the flower quality and quantity improve as Phals. mature.
