The Formosum section of Dendrobiums have recently received a lot of hybridizing attention. This section has been around a long time, but most species of this section, formerly Nigrohirsutae (black haired), have been overlooked in favor of the "other" Dendrobiums. This paper is a brief search of literature and registration records to determine the contributions to Dendrobium hybridizing, and subsequent AOS award recognition of those contributions. A few hybridizing problems and some historical notes are briefly touched on. The paper is 161K and takes time to load. Photos are forthcoming. To view, press---- Black Haired Dendrobiums.
