BULBOPHYLLUM (Bulbos) is currently the largest genus in the Orchid world, with an estimated species count exceeding 2500; however, this genus is noticeably absent from most hobby collections. Most orchid hobbyists are aware of the genus, but have images of small, nondescript, rambling plants, which emit a foul stench when in bloom. The majority of Bulbophyllums are far from this image. Because of this misconception, many hobbyists never get to enjoy the wonderful and whimsical variety of flower and plant forms or the incredible colors combinations found within this fascinating genus.
In efforts to counter this misconception , and introduce hobbyists to the world of Bulbos, C.L.A.N Tropicals has set up this site.
BULBOPHYLLUM was established by LOUIS THOUARS in 1822.
